view map
Amateur radio exams are administered by volunteers that are associated with a Volunteer Examiner Coordinator (VEC). The Rexburg Hams group is affiliated with W5YI-VEC.
Anyone is welcome to sit an exam. It is not necessary for students to attend a course before attempting an exam. There are numerous resources available on the web to prepare you. We also allow walk-ins, meaning you do not have to register for an exam, however, seating is often limited and registration is recommended (http://rexburghams.org/registration.html).
There are three levels of amateur radio licenses and we offer exams for all levels at all exam sessions.
When you come to take an exam, please bring the following items:
- A black or blue pen to fill out paper work
- A pencil for the exam (optional).
- A simple calculator (optional) — programmable calculators are not permitted.
- A printed copy of your current FCC license, if you are upgrading.
- Two forms of identification.
- One should be government issued with a picture, like a drivers license or passport.
- $14 USD, cash.
- Your Social Security Number (SSN) or FCC Registration Number (FRN).
- You do not need the actual card; just one of the numbers.
You can find additional information at http://rexburghams.org/exams.html.
Good Luck! 73, Rexburg Hams
