Notes from the team:

This session has been postponed indefinitely due to COVID-19 restrictions. I will be contacting each person that has registered to make alternative arrangements.

If you have any questions or for more info please call Jeremy, KB7QOA at 208-800-0100.

Please note, if you need a test session outside of the monthly scheduled sessions, please contact Jeremy and we'll be more than happy to set something up.

We test on the 3rd Saturday of every month, starting at 9:00 AM, and accept new test applicants until 9:30. Walk-ins are always welcome, however we strongly encourage you to pre-register so we know how many people to expect.

The location is the Nampa Fire Training Facilities on 300 W Railroad St, in Nampa, ID. We are normally in the main building, in Classroom A or B, but we do often get moved depending on availability. If we aren't in that location, please check the "Fire Safe House" to the East of the main building.

Here is what you need to bring with you:

  • 2 forms of ID, one being a state-issued photo ID such as a driver's license, passport, or military ID. The second form can be a credit card with your full name, library card, utility bill, current FCC license, or other "semi-official" documentation. If you don't have this available, please let me know what you have and I'll verify that we can use it.

  • The testing fee of $14. Correct change is helpful, in case we've had a large number of people paying with larger bills. Credit and debit cards are accepted for an additional $1 per exam in order to cover the processing fees. In the event that you do not pass the test, you'll be required to pay another fee if you wish to make another attempt (at the discretion of the VE team.) If you pass, and if there is time, you may attempt the test for the next license class without paying another fee.

  • A calculator (if you wish to use one.) The VE team must clear any memory on it prior to issuing the test, so please make sure you don't have any data saved that you don't want to lose. We must be able to verify that the memory is cleared, otherwise you will not be allowed to use it. For this reason we recommend basic/scientific calculators rather than programmable graphing calculators as all of them have different clearing procedures. Smart phones with calculator apps are not allowed to be used.

  • PLEASE pre-register for this session, and use your FRN on the forms instead of a SSN. This is for your protection.

  • Most importantly, keep studying up until the test date. If you're consistently getting 80% or better on practice exams, you'll most likely do fine on the test. If you have time and are getting good scores, start studying for the next test as well, and you may be able to get two or even all three of your tests done in one session. Just make sure you don't let your scores drop on the initial test you're after.
