Lawton, OK -- VE Test Session
The Comanche County ARES conducts examinations for Amateur Radio licenses on the second Saturday of each month at the Comanche County Fairgrounds, Wichita Room (Prairie Building), 920 SW Sheridan Rd, Lawton, OK 73505. The testing begins at 10:00 AM, after the Comanche County CERT/ARES meeting.
Beginning in April of 2022, Congress has directed the FCC to collect an application fee from each amateur radio licensee. The fee is $35 and is collected by the FCC on their website. Candidates who have a license and are upgrading will not be assessed a fee. The fee charged by W5YI-VEC is $15.00, exact change is appreciated.
If you are not yet licensed, you must obtain an FCC Registration Number (“FRN”) from the FCC CORES site prior to registering. The FCC requires licensees to obtain an FRN (“FCC Registration Number”) from the FCC’s CORES system prior to doing business with them. This is a one-time task that can be done at any time.
What do I need to bring with me to the test?
- Identification: A legal photo ID will be needed.
- CSCE: If you have a Certificate of Successful Completion of Examination (CSCE) for upgrades not yet selected on your license.
- Fee: The W5YI-VEC charges $15.00 for administering the examinations.
- Calculators: We have a few simple calculators for candidate use. Sorry, no Smart Phones or any other network-connected devices!
