EVENTS
Class: Saturday, March 25 from 8am until about 4pm or 5pm with a break for lunch; and Sunday, March 26, 8am until lunch. You will learn the answers to the questions on the Technician Class (entry level) amateur radio license exam. The questions and answers are all published and available to the public; you are not required to take any class in order to take a test.
Test: Sunday, March 26 at 1pm there will be a free exam for your amateur radio license.
REQUIREMENTS
Deadline: Tuesday, March 21, 11:59pm is the deadline to register for the class and for the test using this site.
FRN: An FCC Registration Number (FRN) is REQUIRED to test. If you do not have one, this registration process will help you obtain one. We suggest you do not wait to register as sometimes the FCC website goes down unexpectedly, which can delay your ability to get an FRN by 2-3 days.
FEES
Class: No fee
Exam: No fees for the tests given by our team of volunteers, ever.
License: The FCC charges a Congress-mandated license fee of $35 for amateur radio licenses. You will pay this fee directly to the FCC after you pass your test with us.
GATED COMMUNITY
The Community Center is 3.4 miles and 11 minutes inside the Seabrook Island Property Owners’ gate. We will provide event passes to those coming from other parts of town. More details will be provided to those who have pre-registered once we get closer to the event dates.
WHAT TO BRING
For your test bring your FRN and a government-issued photo ID. Optionally, you may bring a simple calculator. You may not have a smart watch, cell phone, tablet, etc, during the test.
