Taking an exam to get or upgrade your Amateur Radio License could not be easier with the Western Colorado Amateur Radio Club.
It's a simple 2 step process:
- Register to take your via HamStudy.org. The registration Button can be found at the bottom of this page.
- Arrive at the test location at least 15 minutes early, with your photo ID, FRN, Blank Scratch Paper (optional), calculator (optional), and the $15.00 cash exam fee. Note: If you don't have a FRN due to the Government shut down, don't worry. You'll still be able to test.
Exam testing is offered every month immediately after WCARC club meetings. Exam testing begins right after the WCARC Club Meetings. The meeting starts at 9:30am and usually runs till about 11 am. You are welcome to come to the meeting to meet members and then test afterwards. Most members arriving at 09:00 for Coffee and Donuts. The club meeting formally starts at 09:30. Exams usually start around 11:00 am.

KEY TO SUCESS: Arrive fully prepared for a ham radio test! Practice! Be sure you are consistently scoring above an 85% on practice tests. We can't guarantee it, but if consistently score over 85% you should pass the actual test with flying colors. Know the material! You should be able to complete the exam within 30 minutes. Most questions are short and simple concepts.
Practice Sites: We recommend either ARRL Exam Review for Ham Radioâ„¢ (https://arrlexamreview.appspot.com), a free site from the national ham radio group that you may want to join or HamStudy.org, another free site with lots of tips.
