This is an in-person exam

If you are new to Amateur Radio, you will need to register for an FRN (Federal Registration Number)

Filers wishing to register a new FCC Registration Number (FRN) must first register a Username Account via the Commission Registration System (CORES) at [https://apps.fcc.gov/cores/userLogin.do] After the Username Account is created and activated, filers then register for an FRN.

You will receive an email from the FCC with a code that will complete your FRN registration. Return to this site to complete your registration for this exam.

When we receive your completed registration, we will send you an email with additional intructions, also, expect to receive a phone call from us to answer any questions you may have.

On the day of the exam you are required to bring a government ID with your picture. If you are a minor, your parent/guardian can bring their ID to register you for this session.

If you already have a current Amateur Radio license, and you are upgrading to a higher license, you can just click on Register below, enter your call sign and complete your registration.

After passing your exam, new licensees will receive an email from the FCC to pay a $35 registration fee to obtain their new license. Current Amateur Radio licensees going for an upgrade will not pay this fee.
